    About this canvas

A 200×200 image is a small square. It works for compact avatars and thumbnails, though a destination may ask for a larger source.

    How to make the image

    1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 10 MB.
    2. Select Crop, Fit or Stretch. In Crop mode, move the horizontal or vertical crop-position sliders to frame the subject. In Fit mode, choose a padding colour.
    3. Create the 200×200 image and compare the original and final dimensions, file sizes and previews.
    4. Download the result after checking it at the destination.

    Crop, fit and stretch

Crop trims the longer side of a rectangular photo into a square and is usually best for a profile picture. Fit keeps the whole photo or logo with padding. Stretch squeezes a rectangle into a square and can distort faces and objects.

Resizing resamples pixels. It may alter sharpness or increase file size; compare the output before use.

    Practical guidance

For faces, choose Crop to fill and move the crop until eyes and chin have room. For logos, Fit with padding preserves every edge and avoids cutting off lettering. A small thumbnail needs a clear subject and minimal fine detail.

    Privacy and file handling

The tool reads, resizes and encodes your image in the browser. It does not upload the image to an IMTools server. The original file is left untouched.

    Frequently asked questions

Which mode is best for a face?

Crop to fill normally gives a natural square portrait. Adjust the crop-position sliders if the face is off centre.

    When should I use padding?

Use Fit with padding when a logo, product or full portrait must remain visible. Padding becomes part of the downloaded image.
